Given :  The population of a town increases 4% annually

but is decreased by migration annually to the extent of % 2

To Find : What will be the increase percent in three years

Solution:

The population of a town increases 4% annually

but is decreased by migration annually to the extent of % 2 1 .

Hence  net increase per year = 4 - 2   = 2  %

Let say initial population = p

Hence population after 3 years = p (1 + 2/100)³

= P (1.061208)

= P + 0.061208P

Hence increase in population is 6.1208  %
