population of town in 1974 = 8000
population of town in 1975 = 10% of 8000
=> 10/100×8000
=> 800
new population = (8000+800) = 8800
population of in 1976 = 10% of 8800
=> 10/100×8800
=> 880
new population = (8800+880) = 9680
population of town in 1977 = 10% of 9680
=> 10/100×9680
=> 968
new population = ( 9680+968) = 10648
hence the population of town in 1977 is 10648 .
