total population is 15000
let no. of males=x and females=y
so x+y=15000 (1)
x increases by 8% the nwe x=108x/100
y increases by 10 % then new y=110x/100
now,108x/100+110y/100=16300 -(2)
on solving 1 nd 2
y=5000.

Answer:

Number of females in the town are 5000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let, the number of males = x and the number of females = y.

As, the initial population of the town is 15000.

We get, x+y=15000.

Now, it is given that,

Number of males are increased by 8% i.e. Number of males = x+ 8% of x = 1.08x

Number of females are increased by 10% i.e. Number of females = y+ 10% of y = 1.1y

Since, the new population is 16300. We have,

1.08x+1.1y=16300.

Thus, solving the equations, we get,

1.08x + 1.1(15000-x)= 16300

i.e. 1.08x + 16500 -1.1.x = 16300

i.e. -0.02x = -200

i.e. x= 10,000

So, x+y=15000 implies y=15000-x i.e. y= 15000 - 10000 i.e. y = 5000

Thus, the number of males and females in the town are 10,000 and 5000 respectively.
