Let P be the population of a city or a town at the beginning of a certain year and the population grows at a constant rate of R% per annum then
Population after n years = P(1+R/100)ⁿ
SOLUTION:
Given:
P = initial population= 16000
R = rate of growth of population= 5% per annum.
n = number of years = 1
Population after 1 year= P (1+R/100)ⁿ
= 16000(1+5/100)¹
= 16000(1+1/20)¹
= 16000× 21/20
= 800 × 21
= 16800
Hence, population after next year = 16800
