The population of a town was 35000 in 2006. In 2010 its population was 520000. Assuming that the growth is the same for each year, what will be the population in 2015?

Population in 2006 - 35,000

Population in 2010 - 5,20,000

Therefore,

Growth in population = 5,20,000 - 35,000

= 4,85,000

By assuming the population growth in four years ( From 2006 to 2010 ) as 4,85,000, we can assume the population growth in 1 year as

4,85,000 ÷ 4

= 1,21,250

So, the population growth in one year is 1,21,250.

Now,

Number of years between 2010 and 2015 = 5

So, increase in population = 1,21,250 × 5

= 6,06,250.

and Final population in 2015 will be

5,20,000 + 6,06,250

= 11,26,250.

Hence, the final population in the year 2015 will be 11,26,250.
