Given :

The population of a village is 1,00,000. The rate of increase is 10% per annum.

To Find:

Find the population at the start of the third year.

Solution:

Present population of village = 100000

Rate of increase = 10% = 0.1

So, population after 2 years = P(1+r)^t=100000(1+0.1)^2=121000

Population after 2 years = 121000

So, the population at the start of the third year is 121000
