If no. of males is increased by 15% and no. of females by 25% then the population becomes 5325 from 4500 then the no. of males is 200% of the no. of females in the village.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

No. of population of a village = 4500

Let the no. of males be “x” and no. of females be “y”.

Equation (1): x + y = 4500

It is given that,

No. of males increases by 15%, therefore, no. of males = x + 15% of x = 1.15x

And,

No. of females increases by 25%, therefore, no. of females = y + 25% of y = 1.25 y

Equation (2): 1.15x + 1.25y = 5325

Step 2:

Multiplying 1.15 throughout eq. (1) and subtract eq. (1) from eq. (2), we get

1.15x + 1.25y = 5325

1.15x + 1.15y = 5175

- -          -

----------------------------------

0.1 y = 150

--------------------------------------

y = 1500

and,

x = 4500 – 1500 = 3000

Now, the required percentage is given by,

The number of males = % * The number of females

⇒ % = [3000/1500] * 100

% = 200

Thus, the number of males is 200% of the number of females in the village.
