The population of a village is 8000. If the males and females are increased by 6% and 10% respectively. Then population will become 8600. Find the number of females at present?

Answer:

. males = x, Females = 8000-x

Xx106 /l00+ (8000-x) x110 /l00

multiply by 100 ->

l06x +88000-11 Ox=86ooo

-4x=-2oooo

x=5000

8000-x=3000

Number of females is 3ooo
