The population of a village is in the following ratios.

men : children = 11 : 3

women : children = 5 : 2

There are 36 children in the village.

Find the total population of the village.​

Answer:

Let the number of men be x and number of women be y.

Now, we know there are 36 children. So,

First, we will substitute the value in the men : children ratio.

 \frac{11}{3}  =  \frac{x}{36}

 \frac{11 \times 36}{3}  = x

x = 132

Now, similarly with the women : children ratio.

 \frac{5}{2}  =  \frac{y}{36}

 \frac{5 \times 36}{2}  = y

y = 90

Now, the total population of village is :-

132 + 90 + 36 = 258 people
