increased 10% at the first year so population after first year,

$= 100 \times \frac{100 + 10}{100} \\ = 110$

in second year population decreased 10%, so population after second yer,

$= 110 \times \frac{100 - 10}{100} \\ = 11 \times 9 \\ = 99$

if the present population is 99, then past population was 100.

if present population is 1, then past population was 100/99.

if present population is 56133, then past population was,

$= \frac{100}{99} \times 56133 \\ = 100 \times 567 \\ = 56700$
