Answer:

Total Population-> 13,200

Step-by-step explanation:

                 Town A                                                                   Town B

                      x                                    =                                  (x-4,800)

                (x+3,100)                              =                           (x-4,800-3,100)*11

                             => x+3,100 = (x-7,900)*11

                             => x+3,100 = 11x-86,900

                             => 10x = 90,000

                             => x = 9,000

Therefore, Town A= 9,000 and Town B= (9,000-4,800)

                                                                = 4,200

Total Population of Town A and Town B = (9,000+4,200) = 13,200
