Step-by-step explanation:

length of the pole = 45metres

let  portion of a pole above the earth = x  and portion within earth = y

given, y = 2x/3

and x+y = 45

=> x + 2x/3 = 45

=> 5x/3 = 45

=> x = 45×3/5

=> x = 27

=> y = 2×27/3 = 18
