The Portuguese could not establish themselves firmly in India and as a result of their own carelessness as they were deprived of their trade and territories. The main cause of their failure was the lack of resources. It was not possible for a country like Portugal to establish its control over India.

Answer:
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, various foreign powers began to enter India. Vasco da Gama was the first to arrive at the port of Calicut as a Portuguese. But later when the British came to India, they took away the rights of the French and expelled them. Its effect was more pronounced mainly in Bengal. The British took possession of all the French trading posts. As a result, Portuguese left India at first due to the Anglo-French conflict and did not have any influence in India.
