Answer :

The position of an object moving along x-axis is given by

  • x = 5 + 10t²

We have to find the average velocity of object between t = 2s and 4s.

Instantaneous velocity is given by

  • v = dx/dt

➜ v = d(5+10t²)/dt

➜ v = 0 + 20t

v = 20t

Velocity at t = 2s :

➝ v = 20t

➝ v = 20(2)

v = 40 m/s

Velocity at t = 4s :

➝ v = 20t

➝ v' = 20(4)

v' = 80 m/s

  • Average velocity :

➜ Vav = (v+v')/2

➜ Vav = (40+80)/2

➜ Vav = 120/2

Vav = 60 m/s

Cheers!
