The position of some elements A, B, C, D, E, F and G in the modern periodic table is given above :


i) What type of ions would B , C , E & F forms ?

ii) Which element would have chemical properties similar to C ?

iii) How many shells would A have ?

iv) What is the similarity between A and D ?

v) Identify the most abundant element in the earth crust.

i) B, C, E & F form negative ions or anions, as they gain electrons.

ii) F will have properties similar to C, as they lie in same group (same valence electrons).

iii) A has a single shell, as it's in first period (it represents Helium).

iv) A and D are both grouped under inert (noble) gases, i.e., both have complete octet, both are unreactive, etc.

v) B (oxygen) is the most abundant element in earth's crust.
