Answer:

(a)

(i)Li+S—›Li2S

since elements in group 1 have 1 electron in outer most shell or valency +1, and elements in group 16 have a valency of -2 since they have 6 elements in their outer most shell.

(ii)Li+Cl—›LiCl

since elements in group 17 violently react with ones in group 1 to form compounds and elements in 17 have 7 electrons in outermost shell and have valency -1.

(b)Li from group 1 period 2 is a metal since it gives out an electron to complete it's duet.

Also a note for wherever you got this question there is no element in group 1 and period 1.

there are two elements in period 1 but the elements in group 1 start from Lithium which is in group 2.

so if it was your chemistry teacher tell them about this mistake. it's small but what will students learn right.
