0° and 180° are the angles at which potential will be max and min respectively.

  • The potential at a point due to an electric dipole is V = PEcos∅/r² where,  P = Dipole E = Electric field  and ∅ = Angle between dipole and electric field
  • When ∅ = 0° ,

        V = PEcos0/r²

        V = PE/r² ( cos0 = 1)  which is maximum potential.

  • When ∅ = 180° ,

        V = PEcos0/r²

        V = -PE/r² ( cos180 = -1)  which is mInimum potential.

Therefore, at 0° and 180° are the angles at which potential will be max and min respectively.
