The current flowing to the circuit

i = V / R

Total equivalent Resistance is = 4 + 1 = 5 ohm ( because they are in series )

So

Given , V = 10 volt

i = 10 / 5 = 2 ampere

Potential difference across the terminal of battery ( V ) =

I R ( external resistance )

= 2 × 4 = 8 volt

So , the potential is 8 volt across the terminal of battery .
