We have to find the potential energy of magnetic dipole moment whose dipole moment is P = (-0.5i + 0.4j) Am² kept in uniform magnetic field, B = 0.2i T

Solution : we know, potential energy for a magnetic dipole moment is given by, U = - P.B

= -(-0.5i + 0.4j).(0.2i)

= -(-0.5 × 0.2 + 0.4 × 0) J

= -(-0.1) J

= 0.1 J

therefore the potential energy of magnetic dipole moment is 0.1 J
