let the consecutive no.s be x and x+1
so,
x(x+1) = 6
x^2 + x = 6
x^2 + x - 6 = 0
x^2 +3x - 2x - 6
x(x+3)-2(x+3)
(x-2)(x+3)
therefore ,
x = 2 and -3
we will take a positive value i.e. 2
so , x = 2
and x + 1 = 2+1
= 3
so,
x(x+1) = 6
