EXPLANATION.

Let the age of father be = 4x.

Let the age of Son be = x.

After 20 years,

Present age of father = 4x + 20.

Present age of son = x + 20.

Father will be three times the age of

his son.

→ 4x + 20 = 3 ( x + 20 ).

→ 4x + 20 = 3x + 60.

→ 4x - 3x = 60 - 20.

→ x = 40.

Therefore,

Present age of father = 4x

4(40) = 160 years.

Present age of son = x = 40 years.

The present age of father is four times the ages of his son after 20 years age of father will become three times the age of his son. Find their present ages.

\huge{\boxed{\sf{Answer}}}

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Given \: that}}}}

  • The present age of father is four times the ages of his son.

  • 20 years later, father's age will become three times the age of his son.

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{To \: find}}}}

  • Father's present age.

  • Son's present age.

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Solution}}}}

  • Father's present age = 160

  • Son's present age = 40

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Assumptions}}}}

Present assumptions ↝

  • Father's age will be 4a

  • Son's age will be a

After 20 years ↝

  • Father's age will be 4a + 20
  • Son's age will be a + 20

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{What \: does \: the \: question \: says}}}}

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Let's \: understand \: the \: concept \: 1st}}}}

  • This question says that the present age of father is four times the ages of his son afterthat this question says that after 20 years age of father will become three times the age of his son. Afterwards it ask us to find their present ages. Their means father and the son.

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{How \: to \: solve \: this \: question}}}}

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Let's \: see \: the \: procedure \: now}}}}

  • To solve this problem we have to us our taken assumptions. Afterwards, we have cleared that this question is related to Unit : Linear equations. Using the assumptions we have to solve the the value of a. Afterwards value of a is finded. Afterthat, substituting the value of a in both cases. We have done our question.

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Full \: solution}}}}

Present assumptions ↝

  • Father's age will be 4a

  • Son's age will be a

After 20 years ↝

  • Father's age will be 4a + 20

  • Son's age will be a + 20

Father will become three times the age of his son ↝

➝ 4a + 20 = 3(a+20)

➝ 4a + 20 = 3a + 60

➝ 4a - 3a = 60 - 20

➝ 1a = 40

➝ a = 40/1

➝ a = 40

\bold{\blue{\fbox{\blue{Hence, a = 40}}}}

Finding their present age now by substituting the value of a ↝

Present age of father

➝ 4a

➝ 4(40)

➝ 160

Present age of son

➝ a

➝ 40
