The presence of water vapour in the atmosphere has made life possible on earth, we can say this because of the following evidences:

When it condenses around dust particles in the atmosphere, it creates clouds , which burst to cause rain. This freshwater is consumed by homo sapiens( the human beings) to carry out all their life processes, including respiration, etc. If this water vapour were saline, we could have been dying. This is because our body requires salt in less amounts and salt removes all the water from the body.

The water vapour also consumes dust particles from the atmosphere. Hence making a good use of them in the formation of clouds.

It also controls the unwanted and harmful solar flares and solar radiation from the sun.

That's it!!!!

As a greenhouse gas, the higher concentration of water vapor is then able to absorb more thermal IR energy radiated from the Earth, thus further warming the atmosphere. The warmer atmosphere can then hold more water vapor and so on and so on

The atmosphere also protects living things on Earth from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. ... The atmosphere also helps to sustain life of Earth. It provides oxygen for humans and animals to breathe, and carbon dioxide for plants
