let the present age of A be 5x years and B be 6x years

before 3 years

5x-3/6x-3 = 4x/5x

by cross multiplication

(5x-3) 5 = (6x-3) 4

25x-15 = 24x-12

x = 3

present age of A = 5*3

= 15 years

present age of B = 6*3

= 18 years
