\sf\Large{\underline{\underline{Question}}}:-

The present age of the father is 26 more than the present age of his son. After 5 years the age of his son is three time the age of his father. Find the present age of the son and his father.

\sf\Large{\underline{\underline{Solution}}}:-

Let "x" be the present age of the son.

Then,

The present age of the father is (x + 26).

By the question,

(x + 26) + 5 = 3 (x + 5)

Since, after 5 years the age of the son is 3 times the age of the father.

\implies x + 26 + 5 = 3x + 15

\implies x + 31 = 3x + 15

\implies 31 - 15 = 3x - x

\implies 16 = 2x

\sf\implies \frac{16}{2} = x

\implies{\boxed{x = 8}}

\therefore The present age of the son = 8 years

and,

The present age of the father = 8 + 26 = 34 years
