=> 3x = 35 + 1

=> 3x = 36

=> x = 36/3

=> x = 12


• Hence, present age of the son = x = 12 years.

• And, present age of the father = 3x + 4
= 3 × 12 + 4
= 36 + 4
= 40 years.
