<b>Heya mate. (^_-). Solution below.
====================================

• At present,

Let the son's age be 'x'.

Then, father's age = 3x + 4

• 5 years ago from now,

Son's age = x - 5

Father's age = 3x + 4 - 5 = 3x - 1

• But, according to the question, five years ago, father's age was 35 years.

=> 3x - 1 = 35

=> 3x = 35 + 1

=> 3x = 36

=> x = 36/3

=> x = 12

• Hence, present age of the son = x = 12 years.

• And, present age of the father = 3x + 4
= 3 × 12 + 4
= 36 + 4
= 40 years.

<marquee>Hence, your answers are 40 years and 12 years.</marquee>

Thank you.. ;-)

5 years ago

Son's age = x - 5

Father's age = 3x + 4 - 5 = 3x - 1

A/q

five years ago, father's age was 35 years.

=> 3x - 1 = 35

=> 3x = 35 + 1

=> 3x = 36

=> x = 36/3

=> x = 12

Hence,
present age of the son = x = 12 years.

present age of the father = 3x + 4
=> 3 × 12 + 4
=> 36 + 4
=> 40 years.
