The present age of a father is 6 times of the present age of his son. After 5 years, sum of their ages will be 45 years. What are the present ages of father and son? ​

We have sum of present ages father and son as a+b=50, the age of father becomes thrice the age of son after 5 years,

a+5=3(b+5). Solving two equations

a+b=50 and a−3b=10 we get b=10 and a=40.

The present age of father is 40 years and of son is 10 years.
