If present age of man and son is x and y years respectively. Then by first condition,

x=2y which gives x-2y=0
And by second condition,

(x+8)/(y+8)=7/4 which gives 4x-7y=24
Hence after solving above two equations,

x=48 and y=24

which are present ages of man and son resp.
