Answer:

Let the son's age be = x

The father's age = x + 34

Age of the son twelve years ago = x - 12

Age of the father twelve years ago = (x  + 34) - 12

(x + 34) - 12 = 18( x - 12 )

x + 34 - 12 = 18x - 216

18x - x = 22 + 216

17x = 238

x = 238/17 = 14

Therefore, present age of son is 14 years.
