let the present age of the father be x

his sons age=x/3

5 years ago their ages are x_5 and x/3_5

given

(x_5)+((x/3)_5)=70

(x_5)+ ((x_15/3))=70

(3(x_5)+x+15)/3=70

4x+30/3=70

4x+30=210

4x=180

x=180/4=45

so..

fathers present age =45

sons present age =45/3=15
