Answer:

Present age of his son = 32 years

Present age of his father = 64 years

Step-by-step explanation:

given that,

The present age of father is twice of his son's age

let the age of his son be x

so,

age of his father will be 2x

also given that,

16 years earlier

father's age thrice that was of the son.

so,

According to the question,

2x - 16 = 3(x - 16)

2x - 16 = 3x - 48

3x - 2x = -16 + 48

x = 32

so,

age of his son = 32 years

age of his father = 2x

= 2(32)

= 64 years

so,

Answer:-

Father age = 64 years

Son age = 32 years

Given :-

Present age of father is twice the age of his son.

16 years earlier father's age was thrice son age.

To find :-

Their present age.

Solution:-

Let the present age of father and son be x and y years respectively.

A/Q

 x = 2y -------1

16 years earlier

Age of son was = (y -16)

Age of father = ( x - 16)

 (x-16) = 3(y-16)

 x-16 = 3y -48

 x-3y = -48 +16

 x-3y = - 32 -----2

Put the value of eq.1 in eq. 2

 x = 2y

 2y-3y = -32

 -y = -32

 y = 32 years

→ x = 2y

→x = 2 × 32

→x = 64 years.

hence ,

Son present age is 32 years.

Father present age is 64 years.
