Step-by-step explanation:

Husband : wife= 4:3

let the common no. be x .

therefore, husband= 4x

wife= 3x

20 years before,

husband = 4x- 20

wife = 3x- 20

ATP, 2 × (4x- 20) = (3x -20)

or, 8x - 40 = 3x - 20

or, 5x = 20

or, x = 4

therefore, present age of ,

husband = 4 × 4

=16

wife = 3× 4

=12
