Given :

  • The present age of John's father is 10 years more than twice the present age of John.
  • After 10 years, age of John's father will be twice the John's age.

To find :

  • Their current ages =?

Step-by-step explanation :

Let, the present age of John's be, x.

Then, the present age of John's father be, 2x + 10.

After 10 years John's age = x + 10

After 10 years John's father's age = 2x + 10 + 10

According to the question,

2x + 10 + 10 = 2(x + 10) + 10

2x + 20 = 2x + 20 + 10

2x - 2x = 30 - 20

x = 10

Therefore, We got the value of, x = 10.

Hence,

The present age of John's, x = 10 years

Then, the present age of John's father, 2x + 10 = 2 × 10 + 10 = 20 + 10 = 30 years

Given : -

  • The present age of John's father is 10 years more than twice the present age of John...
  • After 10 years, age of John's father will be twice the John's age...

To Find : -

  • Current ages = ?

Let ,

  • Present age of John's be = y
  • Then, Present age of his father will be = 2y + 10

After 10 years : -

  • John's age = y + 10
  • His father's age = 2y + 10 + 10

Now ,

{ \large{ \bold{ \underline{ \underline{ \purple{According\:to\:the\:Question:-}}}}}}

On Substituting Values : -

\dashrightarrow\sf{2y+10+10=2(y+10)+10}

\dashrightarrow\sf{2y+20=2y+20+10}

\dashrightarrow\sf{2y-2y=30-20}

\leadsto\sf{{ \large{ \boxed{ \bold{ \bold{ \red{y=10}}}}}}}

✒Therefore , Value of y is 10 ..

So ,

\dashrightarrow\sf{Present\:age\:of\:John(y)=10\:years}

\dashrightarrow\sf{Present\:age\:of\:his\:Father=2y+10}

\dashrightarrow\sf{2(10)+10}

\dashrightarrow\sf{20+10}

\leadsto\sf\bold{30\:years}
