Solution :-

Let the present age of son be x

Man's present age = 5 times the afe of son = 5(x) = 5x

Son's age = x - 5

Man's age = 5x - 5

Age of man 5 years ago = 10 times the age of son 5 years ago

⇒ 5x - 5 = 10(x - 5)

⇒ 5x - 5 = 10x - 50

Transpose - 5 to RHS

⇒ 5x = 10x - 50 + 5

⇒ 5x = 10x - 45

Transpose - 45 to LHS and 5x to RHS

⇒ 45 = 10x - 5x

⇒ 45 = 5x

Transpose 5 to LHS

⇒ 45/5 = x

⇒ 9 = x

Present age of son = x = 9 years

Present age of man= 5x = 5(9) = 45 years
