Heya

Let the present age of Mr.Ashok be x

And his son's age be y

According to the question,

x= y²...(1)

x-1= 8(y-1)

x-1 = 8y-8

x-8y-1+8=0

x-8y+7=0...(2)

Substituting eq 1 in 2

y²-8y+7 = 0

y²-7y-y+7= 0

y(y-7) -1(y-7)=0

(y-1)(y-7)=0

y= 1 or 7

When y=1, x=1(this can't be possible)

When y=7

Mr.Ashok's age = 7²=49yrs and his son's age is 7yrs.

Hope it helps^_^

Answer:

Sons age is 7 and Ashok age is 7^{2} = 49

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of Ashok = a

Let the age of his son = b

Its given that

a = b^{2}

One year ago

(a-1) = 8(b-1)

(b^{2} - 1) = 8(b-1)

(b^{2} - 1) = 8b - 8

b^{2} - 8b - 7 = 0

b^{2} - 7b - b - 7 = 0

b(b-7) - 1(b-7) = 0

(b-1)(b-7) = 0

b = 1 or b = 7

Here we will consider b = 7

So sons age is 7 and Ashok age is 7^{2} = 49
