So according to question:.
x = 3y..
x - 3y = 0......1.

Now according to second statement, after 5 years:
x +5 + y +5= 70....
x + y = 60......2.

Now eliminate the equation and you will get the answer.....

Let: Present age of Pradeep = $x$ years

      Present age of Pradeep's father = $y$ years

Solution: According to the given question and assumption made,

∵ $y = 3x$     ....(1)

also, ∵ $(x + 5) + (y + 5) = 70$    

⇒ $x + y + 10 = 70$

⇒ $x + y = 60$     ...(2)

Putting $y = 3x$ in equation (2)

⇒ $x + 3x = 60$

⇒ $4x = 60$

⇒ $x = 15$

Putting $x = 15$ in equation (1)

⇒ $y = 3 \ * \ 15 = 45$

∴ Present age of Pradeep = 15 years

∴ Present age of Pradeep's father = 45 years

Hence, the equations that represent the given data are:

$y = 3x \ and \ x + y = 60$
