Let the present age of Raman be x

Let Raman's mother's present age be 3x

5 years Later

Raman's age will be x + 5

mother's age will be 3x + 5

x+5+3x+5=66

4x+10=66

4x=66-10

4x=56

x=56÷4

x=14

Therefore, Raman's present age=x=14 years

and his mother's present age=3x=3×14=42 years.
