The present age of Sita's father is 3 times the present age of Sita. After 6 years, sum of their ages will be 68. Find their present ages. ​

Let present age of Sita be x

Present age of Sita's father will be 3x

After six years, Sita's age will be 6 + x

After six years, Sita's father age will be 6 + 3x

According to question :-

• After six years, sum of their ages will be 68

Then,

(6 + x) + (6 + 3x) = 68

=> 6 + x + 6 + 3x = 68

=> 12 + 4x = 68

=> 4x = 68 - 12

=> 4x = 56

=> x = 56/4

=> x = 14

=> 3x = 3 × 14 = 42

Hence, present ages of Sita and her father are 14 and 42 years respectively.
