The present age of Sita’s father is three times the present age of Sita. After six years sum of their ages will be 69 years. Find their present ages.

According to question,

y = 3x

and

(x + 6) + (y + 6) = 69

x + y = 69 - 12 = 57

x + 3x = 57

4x = 57

x = 57/4 = 14.25

Sita’s present age is 14.25 years

Her father’s present age is 42.75 years

  • The present age of Sita = a = 14.25 = 14years and 3months.

  • The present age of her father = 3a = 3 × 14.25 = 42.75 = 42 years and 9 months.
