Answer:

The linear equation for their present ages is

x = 9x + 4

where x = son's age and 9x + 4 = Sudhakar's age.

For their ages after 8 years, the linear equation is

x + 8 = 9x + 4 + 8

Here also, LHS is son's age and RHS is Sudhakar's age.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of Sudhakar's son be x.

Let the present age of Sudhakar be 9x + 4.

After 8 years,

Age of son = x + 8

Age of Sudhakar = 9x + 4 + 8

A.T.Q.

 \frac{9x \:  +  \: 4 \:  +  \: 8}{x \:  +  \: 8 }  =  \frac{4}{1}

9x + 4 + 8 = 4 ( x + 8 )

9x + 12 = 4x + 32

9x - 4x = 32 - 12

5x = 20

x = 20/ 5

x = 4

So, Sudhakar's present age = 9x + 4 = 9 × 4 + 4 = 36 + 4 = 40 years

His son's present age = x = 4 years
