Step-by-step explanation:

Veena's mother is four times the age of Veena. After five years, the age of Veena's mother will be 21 years more than Veena. What are the present ages of Veena and her mother?

let

the present age of veena’s mother = x

the present age of veena =y

veena's mother is four times the age of Veena so

x = 4y …………………………………….. (1)

After five years there ages will be

veena’s mother age will be =x+5

veena age willbe =y+5

so according to question

we have

x+5=y+5 + 21 ………………………………. (2)

since we know x= 4y from (1) equation so put it in (2)

we get

4y+5=y+5+21

3y=26–5

3y=21

y=7 (veena age)

so the mother’s age will be 28 years

so x=28 and y=7 (answers)
