Given :

  • Present age of a and b are in the ratio of 7:5
  • 10 years later their age will be in the ratio of 9:7

To find :

  • Thier present age

According to the question,

Let the ratio 7x and 5x

  :\implies \sf{ \dfrac{7x + 10}{5x + 10} =  \dfrac{9}{7}  }

  :  \implies \sf{7(7x + 10) = 9(5x + 10)}

  :  \implies \sf{49x  + 70 = 45x + 90}

 :  \implies \sf{49x - 45x = 90 - 70}

 : \implies \sf{4x = 20}

 :  \implies \sf{x =  \dfrac{20}{4} }

  :  \implies { \underline{ \boxed{ \mathfrak \red{x = 5}}}}

  • Present age of A = 7x = 7 × 5 = 35 years.

  • Present age of B = 5x = 5 × 5 = 25 years.

Given :-

  • Present age of a and b are in the ratio of 7:5
  • 10 years later their age will be in the ratio of 9:7

To find :-

  • present ages of a and b

Solution:-

let their ages be 7x and 5x

\bf\dfrac{7x+10}{5x+10} = \bf\dfrac{9}{7}

7(7x+10) = 9(5x+10)

49x+70 = 45x + 90

4x = 20

X = \bf\cancel\dfrac{20}{4} = 5x.

hence, their ages are:-

  • age of a :- 7(5) = 35years.
  • age of b :- 5(5) = 25years.
