The present Age Ratio of Ram & Shyam are 11 : 8. 10 years feature their Age ratio will be 5 : 4. How much age are their at present ? (Note : CBSE -CLASS -VII, APS -BARRACKPORE, CHAPTER - VII (HOTS NO.2)

We have,

Present ages of Ram and Shyam are in the ratio 11:8

After 10 years, the  ratio will changed,

the ratio of their ages will be 5:4

Now,

We have to find the present age of Ram and Shyam

Let the age of Ram and Shyam be 11x and 8x respectively.

Find the value of x :-

=> (11x + 10)/(8x + 10) = 5/4

=>  4(11x + 10) = 5(8x + 10)

=> 44x + 40 = 40x + 50

=> 44x - 40x = 50 - 40

=> 4x = 10

=> x = 10/4 = 2.5

Therefore, Ram age = 11x = 11×2.5 = 27.5

Shyam age = 8x = 8 × 2.5 = 20

Answer : Age of Ram = 27.5 years

Age of Shyam = 20 years
