Answer:

let A's age be 7x

B's age be 5x

Ten Years Later

A's age = 7x + 10 = 9x (given)

Bs age = 5x + 10 = 7x

7x 10 = 9x

10 = 9x - 7x

10 = 2x

x = 10÷2

x = 5

A's present age = 7x =7 ×5 = 35

Bs present age = 5x = 5 × 5= 25

Answer:

Their present ages are 35 and 25

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 7x and 5x be their present ages.

Given,

          After 10 years their ages will be 9x and 7x.

Therefore,

                 7x+10=9x(i)

                 5x+10=7x(ii)

Taking (i),

    7x+10=9x

=> 9x-7x=10

=> 2x=10

=> x=5

Therefore the value of x is 5.

Therefore replacing x by 5 in the present ages we get,

7x=7*5=35

5x=5*5=25

Therefore their present ages are 35 and 25.

[We need not use (ii) unless there are two variables]
