After 8 years the ages will be : 4x + 8 and 5x + 8

=> 4x + 8 : 5x + 8 :: 5 : 6

Product of Means = Product of Extremes

Hence we get,

=> ( 4x + 8 ) ( 6 ) = ( 5x + 8 ) ( 5 )

=> 24x + 48 = 25x + 40

=> 25x - 24x = 48 - 40

=> x = 8

Hence their present ages will be :

Aman = 4x = 4 * 8 = 32 years

Namam = 5x = 5 * 8 = 40 years
