the present ages of hari and ram are in ratio of 2:3. after 8 years the ratio becomes 10:13 . what are their present ages

Ratio of their present ages :-  2 : 3

Let the age of Hari be 2x and age of Ram be 3x .

After 8 years their ages will be in ratio 10 : 13.

Age of Hari after 8 years = 2x + 8

Age of Ram after 8 years = 3x + 8

   → ( 2x + 8 ) / ( 3x + 8 ) = 10 / 13

   → 13 ( 2x + 8 ) = 10 ( 3x + 8 )

   → 26x + 104 = 30x + 80

   → 30x - 26x = 104 - 80

   → 4x = 24

   → x = 6

Present age of Hari = 12 years

Present age of Ram = 16 years

 \mapsto  \sf \frac{2x + 8}{3x + 8}  =  \frac{10}{13}  \\  \\ \mapsto  \sf 26x + 104 = 30x + 80 \\  \\ \mapsto  \sf 4x = 24 \\  \\ \mapsto  \sf x =  \frac{24}{4}  \\  \\ \mapsto  \sf x = 6
