The present ages of Meeta and Aarushi are in the ratio 5:4. Eight years from

now, the ratio of their ages will be 6:5. Find their present ages.​

Given :-

  • Their Present Ages

Solution :-

⟼ Let the Present age of Meeta be 5x

⟼ Let the Present age of Aarushi be 4x

After 8 years :

⟼ After 8 years, age of Meeta = 5x + 8

⟼ After 8 years, age of Aarushi = 4x + 8

According to the Question :

➞ 5x + 8 / 4x + 8 = 6/5

➞ 5 (5x + 8) = 6 (4x + 8)

➞ 25x + 40 = 24x + 48

➞ 25x - 24x = 48 - 40

➞ x = 8

Therefore :

  • Present age of Meeta = 5x = 5 × 8 = 40years
  • Present age of Aarushi = 4x = 4 × 8 = 36years
