Given

The present ages of Sonu and Monu are in the ratio 4 : 5. Eight years from now, the ratio of their ages will be 5:6.

To find

Find the present ages of Sonu and Monu

Solution

Let the present ages of Sonu be 4x and Monu be 5x

According to the given condition

  • After eight years
  • Sonu's age = 4x + 8
  • Monu's age = 5x + 8

→ 4x + 8/5x + 8 = 5/6

→ 6(4x + 8) = 5(5x + 8)

→ 24x + 48 = 25x + 40

→ 48 - 40 = 25x - 24x

→ x = 8

Hence,

Present age of Sonu = 4x = 4*8 = 32yrs

Present age of Monu = 5x = 5*8 = 40yrs
