The present ages of Veeru and Neeru are in the ratio 3:4. Five years from
now, the ratio of their ages will be 4:5. Find their present ages.

Let The age of Veeru after 5 years = 3X + 5

Let The age of Neeru after 5 years = 4X + 5

Solution:

We have,

The present ages of Veeru and Neeru = 3:4

And,

After five years,

The ratio of their ages = 4:5.

Now,

Let,

Present Age of Veeru = 3x

And,

Present Age of Neeru = 4x

So,

According to the question,

After five years,

i.e.

(3x + 5)/(4x + 5) = 4/5

On solving,

We get,

15x + 25 = 16x + 20

Now,

On solving,

We get,

x = 5

So,

Present Age of Veeru = 3x = 3 × 5 = 15 years

And,

Present Age of Neeru = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20 years

Hence, the present ages of Veeru and Neeru are 15 years and 20 years.
