2500 The present population of females in the village

Step-by-step explanation:

let males number be m , female number be f

he present population of a village is 5500. means

m+f = 5500 ..................................eq 1

if males are increased by 11 % new number of males

= m + (11/100)m

= 1.11m

if females are increased by 20 % new female no

= f +(20/100)f

= 1.2 f

after increasing , new population becomes

1.11 m + 1.2 f = 6330 ..........................eq 2

we get m=3000 and f =2500

present females = 2500

// STEPS FOR SOLVING EQ 1 AND EQ 2 ,

X DENOTES m ,Y denotes f .

x+y=5500;1

.11x+1.2y=6330

Step: Solve

x+y=5500for x:

x=−y+5500

Step: Substitute−y+5500f or xin 1.11x+1.2y=6330:

1.11x+1.2y=6330

1.11(−y+5500)+1.2y=6330

0.09y+6105=6330(Simplify both sides of the equation)

0.09y+0=225

y+=2500

Step: Substitute2500 for yinx=−y+5500:

x=−y+5500

x=−2500+5500

x=3000(Simplify both sides of the equation)

x=3000 and y =2500
