Let initial population of the female in the town was N.
Initial Population of Males = 5500 - N
Now,
Males population increased by 11%,
Males population = (5500 - N) + 11% of (5500 - N)
And, Females population increased by 20%,
Female population, = N + 20% of N
Total Population = 6330
Males population + Female population = (5500 - N) + 11% of (5500 - N) + N + 20% of N
6330 = 5500 - N + 605 - 0.11N + 1.2N
6330 - 5500 - 605 = 0.09N
0.09N = 225
N = 2500.
Initial population of females = 2500.
Now, original population of females = 2500 + 20% of 2500 = 3000.
Initial Population of Males = 5500 - N
Now,
Males population increased by 11%,
Males population = (5500 - N) + 11% of (5500 - N)
And, Females population increased by 20%,
Female population, = N + 20% of N
Total Population = 6330
Males population + Female population = (5500 - N) + 11% of (5500 - N) + N + 20% of N
6330 = 5500 - N + 605 - 0.11N + 1.2N
6330 - 5500 - 605 = 0.09N
0.09N = 225
N = 2500.
Initial population of females = 2500.
Now, original population of females = 2500 + 20% of 2500 = 3000.
